15 Sep Meet Cardio Kickboxing Instructor Grabiel Meza
There are a lot of exciting new classes rolling out at VIBE this fall. One that we’re thrilled to share is the live in-studio experience of VIBE Thai Pads/Cardio Kickboxing with VIBE trainer Grabiel Meza!
Grabiel’s been leading our community through virtual workouts, and we know VIBE members are going to love his classes even more in person. Today, we’re introducing you to Grabiel and sharing his story!
Getting Started With Kickboxing
Though Grabiel’s quite the Thai Pad/Cardio Kickboxing machine now, he hasn’t always been someone with a passion for fitness. In his teen years, Grabiel was 320 lbs. When he had children young, he knew that if he wanted to keep up with them, he would need to make a lifestyle change.
One day he walked into his local TaeKwonDo school to see what it was all about. From there, he was hooked. The school’s head instructor took him under his wing, challenged Grabiel, and showed him that he was capable of more than he realized!
Grabiel had a knack for fighting-style fitness and enjoyed Tae Kwon Do for several years. The discipline and structure were invaluable to him and shaped his approach to fitness.
Eventually, Grabiel found that his style was better suited to the more aggressive form of Muay Thai, and he transitioned to that sport. As he started working out with Muay Thai instructors and training, he fell in love with the fighting style.
In time, Grabiel began teaching and fell in love with being a coach and watching his clients succeed.
Why He Enjoys Coaching
Being part of a client’s journey is something Grabiel truly values. Teaching clients, helping them through their hurdles, and watching them put what they’ve learned to work is incredibly gratifying.
Once, he met and coached a client for a competition happening the same day. He had about 10 minutes to watch footage of her competitor and 30 minutes to train her and advise her on how to perform. Getting to witness that client knock out her opponent using the exact instruction Grabiel gave her was an amazing feeling. At VIBE, Grabiel loves teaching clients how to take care of themselves and do things they’re initially not sure they can do!
Supporting Clients with Massage Therapy
In addition to coaching VIBE Thai Pads/Cardio-Kickboxing, Grabiel is also a massage therapist. As much as he likes training, he also enjoys helping people take care of their bodies.
He especially enjoys helping athletes with muscular therapy that helps them prepare for competitions.
Fitness & Wellness in Grabiel’s Life
Grabiel enjoys lifting and doing Muay Thai as much as possible – without burning himself out too much! He tries to eat clean and avoids fast food and soda. He admits that nutrition isn’t always his strong point, so he’s happy to point clients to other staff at VIBE for nutrition guidance and even more support!
If You’re Intimidated By Thai Pads/Kickboxing…
That’s okay! Grabiel invites anyone unsure about getting started with Thai Pads/Cardio-Kickboxing to set up a quick appointment with him. He often meets people who assume they might not be good at the moves or that they’ll make fools of themselves, but he always shows them that they can do it – and it’s fun!
Why Gabriel Loves Being at VIBE
According to Grabiel, VIBE is an incredibly tight-knit community, like a small family. It’s different from other big gyms because Carly and Samantha care about every single person who walks through their doors: clients and trainers alike.
The VIBE team listens and cares about what’s important to you and what you want to accomplish!
